Repetitive Babble
This review unfortunately doesn't meet the expectations for a Don McLean performance. I didn't necessarily want his character from "Tool Time" or "Last Man Standing," but a touch of humor would have been appreciated. I don't mind crass humor and swearing if it enhances the show, but in this case, it detracted from the experience. Every other word was a swear word, initially amusing but quickly became irritating throughout his nearly 50-minute routine. He frequently complained about the women in his life being "just mean! Horrible women!" without delivering a punchline. It seemed like he was attempting to impart a life lesson, but his constant, incoherent rambling left the audience confused.
The venue, EQC, was not ideal for such an event. The flat floor layout with a large crowd obstructed views, even for those near the front. The "large" screens provided limited visibility, especially when the audience in front moved around. Additionally, the journey to the theater was unpleasant due to the heavy smoke from smokers.
In conclusion, I rated this show two stars out of loyalty to Don McLean, though I would have given it 1.5 stars if possible.
